CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person wanted on several warrants was arrested Friday after a pursuit with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the department confirmed.
The suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon among other warrants.
Around 12:20 p.m. Friday, detectives tried to stop a stolen car around Reames Road in north Charlotte, which is near Interstate 77. When the driver sped away instead of stopping, officers started following the suspect.
The majority of the pursuit happened on I-77, according to police. At one point, the suspect hit another person's car near I-77 south and Morehead Street. CMPD said it caused property damage, but no injuries.
The suspect kept trying to get away from CMPD, police said, but the pursuit ended when the suspect jumped out of the car and ran away around 12:40 p.m. near the intersection of Reid Avenue and Caronia Street.
Police arrested the suspect at this point, around 14 miles from where police first tried to pull the suspect over.
