CMPD says scene is clear after investigating suspicious property in Uptown

Police have not yet clarified what the suspicious property was.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The scene has cleared in Uptown Charlotte after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police conducted a suspicious property investigation. About 20 minutes after sending the alert on the investigation, CMPD conformed roads were reopening.

The investigation happened on North College Street near the intersection with East 6th Street.

Further details about the investigation have not been made public at this time. Police have not yet clarified what the suspicious property was. 

The investigation is taking place just blocks away from First Ward Park, where thousands of people are expected starting Friday for the Lovin' Life Music Fest.
