Costumed man arrested in child sex sting

When the man in black met the men in blue, Lincolnton Police arrested Michael "Doc" Geressy, 36, Friday as part of an ongoing sting targeting child predators.

LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- When the man in black met the men in blue, Lincolnton Police arrested Michael "Doc" Geressy, 36, Friday as part of an ongoing sting targeting child predators.

"It was kind of bizarre for him to show up in a black suit and an exact replica of the "Men in Black" car from the movie," said an undercover Lincolnton detective.

Geressy may have looked the part, but there is no scene in the film where an agent tries to meet up with an underage girl for sex. However, that is what detectives say Geressy tried to do, initially catching their attention after he posted an online ad looking for a young girl.

"I went on the internet and pretended that I was a 14-year-old girl and started communicating with him," said an undercover detective.

He says that communication started in May and lasted until Friday's planned meetup.

"He went to school with my oldest son, it just doesn't seem, it just seems unlikely, but have to wait and see how things turn out," said long time neighbor Randy Graham.

When not dressed as a man in black, Geressy is apparently the man to call if you need a Ghostbuster. He leads a group called the Carolina Ghostbusters and has his very own ectomobile.

According to the group's website, they are paranomral investigators and make appearances at conventions and parties for as much as $200 an hour.

Former Carolina Ghostbuster member Cher Lamberth tells NBC Charlotte she is, "shocked and don't think anyone would think that of him."

Lamberth says she left the group two years ago and to her knowledge it had been dissolved a year ago while Geressy pursued other interests. However, Geressy made an appearance as a Ghostbuster as recently as last week.

"He has a lot of different cars, Ghostbusters stuff, and does a lot of things with kids, from what I understand, so it is really surprising," said Graham.

Investigators say because Geressy did events involving children, they are worried this may not be the first time he tried to have sex with a child.

"It is definitely a concern that he has that mentality when he's around children, that's going through his mind," said the undercover detective.

In addition to making appearances as movie characters, Geressy also worked as a part time instructor at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting Charlotte campus for the last year. School officials say his arest had nothing to do with his activities at the college, however they agreed to part ways.

Geressy is free after posting $75,000 bond.
