CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The FBI is searching is searching for a North Carolina teenage murder suspect they believe may have fled to Mexico.
Alejandro Castillo, 18, is wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of a female coworker in North Carolina.
When the victim's body was discovered in August, investigators say they received information that Castillo fled to Mexico with an accomplice.
Officials say Castillo was seen crossing into Mexico and may still be there. They believe he may have traveled into El Salvador. Castillo's accomplice later surrendered to law enforcement.
The County Court of Mecklenburg issued an arrest warrant for Castillo in November after he was charged with murder. The 18-year-old has also been charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
