Local law enforcement is warning everyone to check their bank account. Police tell us nearly a thousand local accounts were compromised by a skimming device planted on a single ATM.

"Whoever is responsible I'm sure they're going on a nice vacation," said Tisha Isom-Page, a skimmer device victim.

Nowadays, bad guys will do just about anything to get their hands on your cold hard cash.

Page takes her daughter to dance practice once a week. She uses the Founders ATM often, which is conveniently located across the street. When she went to check her account something didn't add up.

There were at least six fraudulent charges.

Tisha was just one of nearly 900 people that had their bank cards compromised.

Founders Federal Credit Union released this statement in part:

"Monday, we saw a high volume of fraud on accounts, primarily in the Rock Hill area. Our security team began researching the issue and security footage indicated a skimming device had been placed on our India Hook Road drive-up ATM."

"The bad guys will insert a deep skimmer way into the mouth of the ATM so, as a customer, you'll never see it," said a financial crimes expert.

ATM fraud has skyrocketed more than 500% across the country in the past year.

"Just imagine, if they got hundreds from me, could have been hundreds from someone else, or thousands. So it just totals," said Page.

Founders is advising any of its customers that notice fraudulent transactions to call them at 1-800-845-1614 or visit your local Founders office.
