Teens charged with murder of 90-year-old woman

The Concord Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred Wednesday night.

CONCORD, N.C. – Police in Concord have arrested two teens in connection with the murder of a 90-year-old woman.

Officers responded to a call in the 100 block of McKinnon Avenue that a woman was found dead inside her home. When they arrived on the scene, officers found Gilma Goodman dead.

Anthony Deion Cooper, 17, and Isaiah Powell, 17, have both been charged with first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and discharging a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury.

Investigators say they were able to locate the suspects after receiving a tip from the public. Police say that the pair went to Goodman’s home between 7:45 and 8 p.m. with the intent to commit a robbery. Police say that during the attempted robbery Goodman was shot and killed.

Cooper and Powell are currently being held in the Cabarrus County Jail.
