Victim identified in south Charlotte homicide

Neighbors said they heard several gunshots coming from The Retreat at McAlpine Creek Apartments.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigated a homicide in south Charlotte Monday.

At 11:26 a.m., South Division officers responded to a call for assault with deadly weapon with injury in the 9100 block of Fisher’s Pond Drive.

Once officers arrived, they located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Medic.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Tyron Jodie Ervin.

Detectives with the homicide unit canvassed the area to find witnesses to the incident.
