DALLAS, N.C. — The Dallas Police Department has arrested and charged a suspect after an investigation into over $470,000 in church funds believed to have been stolen.
In 2021, the Dallas Church of God's accounting department noticed missing church funds. After the church's bank conducted an audit, it was discovered that beginning in 2018, there were unknown withdrawals and payments made to PayPal.
The church reported this activity to the Dallas police, who launched a criminal investigation into the matter in 2023.
Documents and financial statements showed that over $470,000 in church funds were used for purchases that were not related to the church. These actions occurred from 2018 to 2023.
On Friday, Dec. 8, Dallas arrested their primary suspect, Jordan Shortridge.
Shortridge has been charged with Felony Larceny.
