CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte.
Police say the homicide happened on Odum Avenue near Brookshire Boulevard and I-85. Officers responded to the area around 11:30 p.m. Sunday and found a man who had been shot. That person was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
The victim, identified as 47-year-old Rudolph Acolaste, was shot and killed. His friends said he was a father of two and an influential member of the community.
Some friends said Acolaste was generous, and he'd give a stranger the shoes off his feet.
The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Ronald Joseph was immediately taken into custody and charged with murder, police said. Joseph is currently held under a $100,000 bond.
CMPD said the department is not looking for any other suspects at this time, but this remains an active investigation.
