CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman was arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in east Charlotte in May, police announced.
The crash happened along East W.T. Harris Boulevard near The Plaza around 4 a.m. on May 19. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said 57-year-old Wade Terrill Burch was found dead in the road by paramedics before officers arrived.
Investigators said Burch was trying to cross the road when he was hit by a silver or gray sedan. The driver sped away from the crash and was last seen driving toward North Sharon Amity Road.
Detectives obtained warrants for 27-year-old Ana Maria Consuelos on July 3 for felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death. Conseulos was arrested on July 8. Mecklenburg County jail records show she's still in custody as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
