Detectives determined the driver of the CR-V was making a left turn from W.T. Harris Boulevard onto the I-485 on-ramp when the motorcycle crashed into the SUV at a high rate of speed. Barreras was wearing a DOT-approved helmet but wasn't wearing it properly, CMPD said. The driver of the Honda and two passengers were not hurt in the crash.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. A toxicology report is pending. No charges have been filed at this time.
