CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed and another was hurt after a shooting led to an SUV crashing into a bus in northeast Charlotte early Wednesday morning, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a crash involving a CATS bus at University City Boulevard and North Tryon Street a little before 1 a.m. When officers arrived, they found an SUV crashed into the back of a CATS bus at the red light.
Two people were inside the SUV that crashed into the CATS bus, police said. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Conner O'Neil Yancy, was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. A 22-year-old female passenger in the SUV was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening, police said. The only person on the bus was the driver, who was not injured in the wreck.
