GASTONIA, N.C. — A 16-year-old was shot and killed in Gastonia on Wednesday night, police said.
Gastonia Police responded to a shooting on Cox Road just north of Interstate 85 around 10 p.m. on Jan. 17. When officers arrived, they found the victim, a 16-year-old, shot to death. Detectives have not identified the victim due to their age.
A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday night. The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Brandon Cunningham. He was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.
