Police identify woman, suspect in deadly southwest Charlotte stabbing

A man has been taken into custody. Police say the initial call was for a domestic violence incident.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Editor's Note: This story discusses an alleged domestic violence incident. While no acts are described, reader discretion is advised.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said officers arrested a man after a woman was reportedly fatally stabbed in southwest Charlotte on Saturday.

CMPD said officers responded to a home along Hermsley Road around 11 a.m. Officers said the initial call was for domestic violence and an assault with a deadly weapon. Police said they found a woman with life-threatening stab wounds. The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic arrived to render emergency medical aid to the victim alongside officers. However, the victim died at the scene.

Officers then launched a homicide investigation. During the early phases, police said they took the male suspect into custody, finding him near the crime scene.

CMPD shared more information about the suspect and victim on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Police said 27-year-old Victor Arley Agudelo-Monsalve is charged with the murder of 19-year-old Yamile Alejandra Giraldo Gomez.
