BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — The Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a welfare check in 4000 block of Sugarloaf Rd., Connelly Springs on Tuesday, October 30 around 9 p.m.
When they arrived, deputies discovered the body of 69-year-old Robert Young Biggerstaff.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office opened a death investigation, assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation.
At approximately 6 p.m. on October 31, Burke County detectives, SBI agents and Caldwell County detectives arrested Cathy Michelle Chapman for felony possession of Biggerstaff’s stolen vehicle.
Chapman was taken before a Burke County Magistrate and then incarcerated in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $10,000 secured bond.
The death investigation is still underway.
