Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 3100 block of Old House Circle in the Independence Division.
CMPD officers responded to an assist Medic call for service just after 12 p.m. on December 23.
Upon arrival officers, Independence Division patrol officers located an adult male inside a residence. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by Medic.
Cheryl Samuel lives across the street from the man's home.
She said she knew the man for 30 years, and described him as a friendly and supportive neighbor.
"I would take him to Sam's [Club] and help him do his shopping, and then we would text each other," Samuel said. "He's very computer savvy so anytime i would have problems with my computer, I'd always give him a call."
The victim in this case has been identified as 54-year-old Keith Greenwald. His family has been notified of his death.
Once the Medical Examiner’s Office completes their investigation, CMPD will provide updates. Officials have not released any information about a cause of death.
