CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a car was stolen from a north Charlotte gas station with a 5-year-old girl in the backseat Tuesday night.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to a gas station on Sunset Boulevard, just off Interstate 77, for a stolen vehicle. It happened a little after 8 p.m., according to a police report obtained by WCNC Charlotte.
The victim told police his car was stolen from the parking lot with his 5-year-old daughter inside. CMPD found the vehicle, a 2023 Dodge Challenger, not far from the store with the girl still in the back. However, a Glock 9 mm handgun that was in the car was stolen, police said.
CMPD hasn't announced any arrests in the case or released any suspect information. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
