WILSON COUNTY, N.C. — A 6-year-old child is in critical condition and her mother is dead after a domestic violence attack that spanned two counties on Sunday morning.
Law enforcement officers said Daquan Marcato Jones, 32, of Rocky Mount, shot four people – a mother, her child, another woman and a man – before dawn at a home on Weavers Circle in Sharpsburg.
Family members identified the mother as 27-year-old Kiera Massenburg.
Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, deputies with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Sharpsburg Police Department were called to the home in Sharpsburg. There, they found a man and a woman, both with gunshot wounds. The pair was taken to Vidant Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
