CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman was arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in east Charlotte earlier this month, police announced.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian along Albemarle Road near Farm Pond Lane around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. When officers arrived, they found 49-year-old Jeremiah Daniel Parrish unresponsive lying in the road. Parrish was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators determined that Parrish was trying to cross Albemarle Road when he was hit by a 2011 Ford Escape driven by Kenricka Janee Gist, 25. Gist drove away from the scene before returning two hours later to speak with CMPD officers.
Parrish was hospitalized for over a week until he died on Saturday, Dec. 14 from his injuries. Gist was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run. Speed and impairment are not considered factors in the wreck, according to CMPD.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
