Charlotte murder suspect arrested by FBI, CMPD says

A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in east Charlotte last month was arrested by the FBI in northern Virginia, CMPD said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in east Charlotte in April was arrested in Virginia and is expected to be extradited to North Carolina, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

Justin Carache-Soto, 21, was found dead at a home on Upas Lane, which is just off Albemarle Road near Waverly Lake, on April 12. The case was initially viewed as a death investigation, but detectives later determined Carache-Soto's death to be a homicide.

The FBI arrested a man in connection with the shooting in northern Virginia on May 9. The suspect, 23-year-old Alejandro Jose Sequeira, was charged with murder. CMPD homicide detectives are scheduled to interview Sequeira in Alexandria, Virginia. Extradition to North Carolina is pending, according to CMPD. 

CMPD says the investigation remains active. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
