CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in east Charlotte.
The shooting happened on Blendwood Drive near The Plaza around 11:15 p.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. A man was found with a gunshot wound at the scene and pronounced dead.
The victim approached a car in "an agitated state" before he was shot, according to police.
Police were speaking with witnesses to gather information at the scene.
Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Jabron Jamal Collins.
Minutes after CMPD put out the alert about this incident, another homicide was reported on Blythwood Lane. Police say the two incidents are not related.
