Child seriously injured in east Charlotte shooting: CMPD

The incident happened around 5 p.m. in east Charlotte, officials said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A child was seriously injured in a shooting in east Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

According to Medic, multiple crews responded to a reported shooting on Trousdale Drive a little before 5 p.m. That's near the intersection of Albemarle Road and East W.T. Harris Boulevard. The child was taken to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Medic confirmed. 

CMPD hasn't released any further details and it's unclear if a suspect is in custody.
