ROCK HILL, S.C. — A suspect has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Rock Hill on Nov. 6 that allegedly stemmed from a drug deal.
Rock Hill Police responded to a shooting at a home on Amelia Avenue, just north of Cherry Road, around 1 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the hand and head. They also found a man shot and killed in a nearby car. The woman was taken to the hospital.
Rock Hill Police said it has arrested 35-year-old Melvin Robinson on Monday for possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes. Later, warrants were issued for murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and for possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes for the homicide accusation.
The preliminary investigation indicates the shooter opened fire when both victims were sitting in the car. That person then ran from the scene and hasn't been found.
The York County Coroner's Office identified the victim Thursday as 31-year-old Lawrence Howard of Rock Hill. His autopsy and toxicology report will be completed next week.
