(WESH) - A suspected dog abuser got more than he bargained for when he ran afoul of a martial arts expert. The black belt holder took a very active part in his arrest.
Video shot by a bystander shows martial arts instructor Dennis Davidson with his arms and legs wrapped around a man police said had been abusing a dog on a public street in Palm Bay, Florida.
Davidson and his wife, who were just passing by, stepped in. That's when the man threatened his wife, Davidson said.
"He basically got irate and started to move towards her, shouting some obscenities and pointing," Davidson said.
Davidson teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu at American Top Team Martial Arts in Rockledge. He said he had to "put the man to sleep" a couple of times, by squeezing his carotid artery and temporarily cutting off the flow of blood to his brain.
