Former Gaston County associate pastor charged with indecent liberties with a minor

The crimes occurred from October 2018 through September 2019, police say.

BELMONT, N.C. — Gaston County Police have charged Nicholas Adam Martin, 24, with multiple crimes after a report that involved a 14-year-old victim.

At the time of the crimes, police say Martin was an associate pastor at North Belmont Church of God. The crimes occurred from October 2018 through September 2019.

The charges stem from an investigation the Gaston County Police Department started in October.

Martin was arrested on October 6 and was charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a minor, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of felonious indecent exposure to a minor.

During a Monday afternoon court hearing, prosecutors revealed three more people contacted law enforcement and the DA's office claiming Martin victimized them.

Police are interviewing the three people and encourage anyone with information on the cases to call them.

According to arrest warrants, Martin exposed his private parts on public property at the North Belmont Church of God. It's unclear when this particular incident happened, but it's probable that it happened on or around October 7, 2018.

He is currently under a $1 million bond at the Gaston County Jail, police confirm.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective M. Rheinson at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.

No other information has been released at this time.
