FORT MILL, S.C. — A Fort Mill man is facing child sexual exploitation charges after a recent investigation.
The South Carolina Attorney General's Office announced the arrest of 63-year-old John Allen Geiser on Friday. Geiser, who was arrested on Thursday, is accused of possessing child sexual abuse material.
The office said the investigation was spurred by a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. He was arrested by the York County Sheriff's Office and charged with five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. If found guilty of all counts, he could face up to 50 years in prison; the office notes each count carries a maximum of 10 years of imprisonment.
A mugshot for Geiser was not available from jail records on Friday.
The term "child sexual abuse material" is being used more widely to describe material historically deemed "child pornography". The attorney general's office notes the term "pornography" implies children are consenting participants.
