CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A gun was found at Cotswold Elementary School on Wednesday, according to school officials.
The principal sent a message to families saying the weapon was not loaded, and no students or staff were harmed or threatened.
Principal Alicia Hash said law enforcement was notified immediately and the administration was investigating.
"It is a serious violation to bring weapons onto a school campus. Any student violating the CMS Code of Student Conduct will receive appropriate disciplinary action," she said.
Hash asked parents to talk to their children about "not bringing inappropriate items to school."
