Man arrested after leading police on high-speed chase in Gaston County, officials say

Police responded to a call that a man was attempting to break into cars at an apartment complex Friday morning.

GASTONIA, N.C. — A man is facing several charges after being accused of leading officers on a high-speed chase in Gaston County.

The Dallas Police Department said they responded to a call shortly after 4 a.m. Friday at the Long Creek II apartments. The caller said a man was walking around the parking lot of the complex with a flashlight, pulling on door handles.

When police arrived, a man jumped out of the bushes and began running away. He got into a car and sped away towards Gastonia. Police followed suit.

The suspect, Jamaurie Jackson, crashed into a utility pole near Eastridge Mall in Gastonia. He was taken to the hospital for injuries from the crash and then taken to Gaston County jail, where is being held without bond.
