Person took their own life after killing another at a Charlotte hotel, police say

Friday's homicide investigation at a hotel on Kings Parade Boulevard was related to a possible "murder-suicide," police said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were found shot to death in a southwest Charlotte hotel on Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.

CMPD responded to a reported shooting at the Tru by Hilton on Kings Parade Boulevard around 1:30 p.m.

Officers found two victims who had been shot and Medic pronounced both victims deceased on the scene.

"The initial investigation indicates this to be a murder-suicide with the suspect taking their own life," a police spokesperson said.

The names of the people involved are being withheld at this time while they work to notify family.

Multiple CMPD officers were seen outside the hotel with several cruisers in the parking lot on Friday as they carried out the on-scene investigation.

The department said it is not looking for any additional suspects at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses can also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with CMPD homicide detectives.
