CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says officers are investigating a homicide in the eastern part of the city.
CMPD shared an alert about the scene just after 11:30 p.m. Friday. According to police, the investigation is centered on Paces Glen Avenue, which is south of Albemarle Road.
CMPD said they responded around 10:30 p.m. When they arrived, officers discovered a victim, later identified as 18-year-old Lonnie Mcconico, Jr., with a gunshot wound. CMPD officers pronounced Mcconico deceased on the scene.
A second victim was "self-transported" to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Homicide unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence, according to CMPD.
The investigation is ongoing.
