CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A shooting in southwest Charlotte left one person dead on Saturday.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a welfare check call on Peppervine Lane, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. After arriving, officers found a man who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After a preliminary investigation, police determined the incident to be a homicide and turned the investigation over to the department's homicide unit.
Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Justin Lavon Johnson.
On Sunday, police arrested Lawrence Jackson, 48, in connection to Johnson's death. Jackson is charged with murder.
