CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that left one person dead at an apartment complex in southwest Charlotte Friday morning.
Officers said they responded to the scene on Cherrycrest Lane, not far from Archdale Drive, around 7:45 a.m.
Officers found a man with gunshot wounds in a gazebo area in the apartment complex, police said.
Medic confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
No word on if any suspects have been identified. WCNC Charlotte has reached out to CMPD for more information on the incident.
WCNC Charlotte spoke with neighbors in the area who said it's not the quietest area. Some see crime often, including Jenifer Avila. She sells fruit on the weekend at the apartment complex. She didn't expect this scene when coming to set up.
"People are respectful here," Avila said.
