Deadly shooting under investigation in west Charlotte

​The shooting happened along Reid Avenue, which is off West Boulevard, around 12:30 a.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person is dead after a shooting in a west Charlotte neighborhood overnight Tuesday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

The shooting happened along Reid Avenue, which is off of West Boulevard, around 12:30 a.m., according to police. CMPD officers on the scene found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, later identified as 56-year-old Curtis Alvin Sherer, died at the scene.

CMPD later released that a person reported someone shot into her home just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. A 16-year-old girl was inside the house at the time but was not injured.

No word on whether there are known suspects at this time.
