MORGANTON, N.C. — A suspect is on the loose after an alleged standoff with police in Morganton on Tuesday morning, police said.
Now, the Morganton Department of Public Safety is asking for help finding 36-year-old Vincent Ervin, the suspect in connection with the burglary and standoff.
Morganton Police responded to a reported burglary at a home on Asheville Street early Tuesday, investigators said. Two men were forced out of the home while the suspect held a woman hostage inside, police said.
SWAT agents, a drone and negotiators with Morganton Police arrived a short time later and were able to get the woman out of the home.
Ervin was able to escape from the house and hasn't been captured, according to investigators.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or Ervin's whereabout to contact their local law enforcement agency or Inv. Storie at 828-509-3651.
