WADESBORO, N.C. — Editor's Note: WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because an investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is requesting more information.
A Wadesboro man is facing human trafficking and child sex crime charges.
The Anson County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that 30-year-old Jamoszio Burch was arrested on Thursday, March 14. He was charged with one count of human trafficking a child and two counts of taking indecent liberties with children.
Known as "Moszi," Burch led the NC Jayhawks AAU boys basketball team, advertised as a place to help boys become responsible and respectful young men.
The team traveled to multiple areas, including Stanly County, according to Stanly County Sheriff Jeff Crisco.
After speaking with players and parents, Crisco said they've now launched their own investigation into Burch.
“We could potentially have victims here," Crisco said. "We want them to come forward with their parents to give us the information in hopes that, okay, if you don’t want to talk, well, maybe you can tell us it happened to somebody else that way we can go to that individuals’ parents.”
Speaking off camera, one man who said he knows Burch told WCNC Charlotte the NC Jayhawks were supposed to make a difference for the youth in the community. Now, he's worried it was just part of a "sick hidden agenda" for Burch.
The Anson County Sheriff's Office said it is working jointly with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Additional charges are anticipated.
In addition to running an AAU basketball team, WCNC Charlotte confirmed that Burch was formerly an assistant basketball coach at Union Academy Charter School in Monroe.
The school said his contract expired at the end of the most recent season and was not renewed. Burch is no longer associated with the school.
Burch was booked into the Anson County jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
Deputies ask anyone with more information about Burch or who could provide more details in the investigation to reach out to local law enforcement.

Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.
WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.
