Missing 4-year-old found safe, grandmother arrested after abduction

The child had not been seen in person since June 14, 2021, after being abducted by his grandmother, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said.

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A missing 4-year-old has been found safe and returned to his mother after being abducted by his grandmother, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reported.

Officers went to the grandmother's house where they located the 4-year-old, deputies said. He had been missing since June 14, 2021, according to deputies.

A warrant was issued for the grandmother's arrest and she was taken into custody, deputies said.

WCNC Charlotte is choosing not to identify the grandmother so as to not identify the child.
