CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because of the nature of the charges.
A Kannapolis man is back in jail on new charges tied to the duplication of videos that depict children being sexually exploited.
WCNC Charlotte reviewed the records Wednesday regarding the arrest of 38-year-old Michael Angel Hernandez, who was taken into custody Wednesday by the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office. Hernandez was originally arrested on Nov. 5 for two counts of second-degree child sexual exploitation, but arrested again on Nov. 27 for eight more counts.
Hernandez's arrest record alleges he copied several videos that showed children as young as six years old up to 14 years old. The videos reportedly included the victims declaring their names and ages prior to performing sexual acts.
When Hernandez was previously arrested, he was released on a $125,000 bond. He is now back in jail and held without bond. He will be in court on Dec. 2, 2024.
