KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A man accused of robbing a Kings Mountain bank while armed with an assault rifle has been taken into custody.
The Kings Mountain Police Department said the man later identified as 25-year-old Gerald Anthony Bass Jr. entered the Truist branch on East King Street around 10 a.m. and demanded money. Photos shared by the department showed him armed with an assault-style rifle in one hand. He was then able to get away with just more than $7,000.
Later Thursday evening, Kings Mountain Police confirmed Bass was located in Mount Holly. He was taken into custody around 7 p.m. and had warrants signed for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The Mount Holly Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation also helped make the arrest.
