KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Investigators with the Kings Mountain Police Department say a fire that broke out at a store recently has been deemed suspicious and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
The department said officers and the Kings Mountain Fire Department responded to the Roses Discount Store on Shelby Road on Sunday. While the fire was quickly extinguished, a substantial portion of the store was damaged.
An investigation by the fire department and the Cleveland County Fire Marshal's Office led to the conclusion the fire was suspicious. Video surveillance was unable to capture the area of the store where the fire was allegedly set, however.
Police note there were about 20 customers in the store when the fire broke out. Anyone who was in the store at the time or near the Roses store when the fire broke out Sunday is asked to call the department at (704) 734-0444. Information can also be shared with Det. Sgt. Josh Bryant by emailing josh.bryant@cityofkm.com. Tips can also be shared by using the Cleveland County Crime Stoppers app for iOS or Android devices.
