LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man they say solicited sex online from a person he believed to be 14-years-old.
Tuesday, detectives charged Todd Michael Morrell, 39, with felony soliciting a minor for sexual activity by a computer.
The Sheriff's Office says the arrest comes as the result of a week-long investigation in which a detective posed as a 14-year-old on social media and interacted and exchanged emails with Morrell.
A sting, in the form of a meeting location for sex, was set up, authorities say, and Morrell showed up to the prearranged location, where deputies took him in to custody.
The Sheriff's Office says Morrell secured a hotel room for the encounter, where detectives secured various items of evidence related to the case.
Morrell was booked in to the Lincoln County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
