CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Lincoln County man was sentenced to prison for a "savage" attack on detention center officers in June 2019, officials said.
Larry Wade Stanley Jr. was charged with assault on law enforcement officers after he and two other inmates attacked four detention center officers when they refused to enter their cell. The officers were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries in the attack.
Stanley was found guilty of four felony counts of assault on a law enforcement officer on Nov. 15. He was sentenced to a minimum of 14 years to a maximum of 20 years in prison for the crime. His sentenced will begin at the end of his current sentence, which is projected to end in January 2028.
Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.
WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.
