UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Four people are facing charges in connection with a luxury car theft ring that was operating in Union County, deputies announced.
The Union County Sheriff's Office says the suspects were targeting high-end luxury cars that were left unlocked with the keys inside. The suspects are facing over 50 counts in connection with the alleged crime spree, including first-degree burglary, larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle and breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
Deputies identified three of the suspects as teenagers living in the Charlotte area. They are 19-year-old Evan Tolson, 19-year-old Julius White and 18-year-old Ja'Quise Black. The fourth suspect hasn't been identified because he's a juvenile, investigators said. The juvenile suspect is not in custody, according to the sheriff's office.
Sheriff Eddie Cathey said Union County deputies collaborated with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and North Carolina state investigators during the operation.
Additional charges are likely for all four suspects. The sheriff's office asks anyone with information to call Union County Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600. Witnesses can all call 704-283-3789 to speak directly with Union County deputies.
