CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The man accused of killing a Garinger High School student last month is due in court Tuesday.
Myhijee Major is facing involuntary manslaughter charges for the death of 14-year-old Johnnie McClendon. Court records show Major was showing McClendon a gun on Dec. 3, when the gun went off and killed McClendon.
At a vigil held the week of his death, Mothers of Murdered Offspring (M.O.M.O) executive director Lisa Crawford locked eyes with the kids in the crowd asking them to put the guns away.
“This the only way I want to see you,” Crawford said at the time. “I don’t want to see you in a picture on a table, so let’s make a good decision, let’s take care of another, let’s be positive.”
