Man accused of Gaston Co. murder ordered to stay in jail

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A man remains in jail after appearing in Gaston County court Monday for charges of murdering the father of an eight-year-old girl.

Naijii Boyd is accused of killing David Clint Watson outside a Gaston County home.

Police said Boyd then took a woman and child with him to Burlington where the woman escaped and was able to get help. Detectives are investigating whether Boyd should also be charged with kidnapping.

Lacey Stillwell said she dated Watson on-again, off again for more than four years.

"I just miss more than anything that he was just so full of love and life," Stillwell said.

She said Watson was a skilled tattoo artist who designed much of the ink on her body.

"I think everybody in Gaston county and the surrounding areas have a piece of his work on him," she said.

A grand jury will hear the charges against Boyd in the coming weeks.
