CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a man in connection to an east Charlotte shooting that left one man dead.
James Russell Andrews, 23, was charged with murder after police say he fatally shot 25-year-old Jarel D’Shaun Grace last Saturday.
According to CMPD, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 4100 block of Colebrook Road just after 2:30 p.m. on April 1. When officers arrived, they found Grace lying in the front yard of a home suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to CMC, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives with CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team located Andrews at a home in the 2100 block Camp Greene Street Wednesday. He was taken into police custody without incident, according to investigators.
Andrews was charged with murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a dead weapon with intent to kill, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
