TROUTMAN, N.C. -- A Troutman man, who authorities say beat up his girlfriend, then violated the conditions of his pre-trial release when he was found hiding in the victim's closet a week after the initial assault, is behind bars for the second time in 10 days, according to the Sheriff's Office.
On August 1, Iredell County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home on Thoroughbred Drive on reports of domestic violence.
The victim reported that 25-year-old Gustavo Armando Hernandez had punched her in the face and neck, then kicked her in the ribs.
The Sheriff's Office says Hernandez then pulled the phone cord from the wall while the victim was calling 911.
Hernandez was booked in to the Iredell County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond on the charges of assault on a female and interfering with 911 communications.
The Iredell County Magistrate directed Hernandez, as part of his pre-trial release, to stay away from the victim and to have no contact with her whatsoever.
Last Friday, a Sergeant with the Special Victims Unit stopped by the victim's home to check in. The Sheriff's Office says the Sergeant noticed signs that indicated Hernandez may have been inside the victim's home. Hernandez was found hiding in the closet, according to officials.
Hernandez was arrested for violating the terms of his pre-trial release. His original bond was revoked, and a new bond was set at $100,000 and now has an immigration detainer.
