MATTHEWS, N.C. — A man, who was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being shot while driving in Matthews Wednesday, has died, police announced Thursday.
Brett Thomas Butler, of Charlotte, was driving near the intersection of Matthews Township Parkway (Highway 51) and Sam Newell Road when he was shot Wednesday around 6 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found Butler, whose car had crashed into another vehicle before striking a builder.
Butler was transported by Medic to Atrium Health's Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male approximately 5’06” – 5’08” tall, wearing a black t-shirt, and blue jeans, driving a black 2007 Acura TSX with a North Carolina registration plate number of PMX-5683.
