CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police in Huntersville asked for your help identifying a man who broke into a woman's car as she dropped her child off at daycare and got away with her purse and credit cards.
It happened Tuesday morning outside Forrestal Academy.
Police believed the man was driving a blue Mitsubishi, went to Rosedale Shopping Center, and used the stolen credit cards at Harris Teeter.
Daycares in Huntersville are no stranger to this type of crime. Exactly one year ago, the police department reported a rash of car break-ins where criminals were preying on parents.
Police tweeted, "Turn your vehicle off, lock your doors and remove all valuable items."
"A lot of times you're sleep deprived, you're trying to deal with the kids, you don't think to lock the door. I carry both of them in my arms and I have to try to lock the door with the key in my pocket," one dad said.
Police said car break-ins are actually down from this time last year. A total of 17 were reported in the month of February and six reports so far in March.
If you have any information about this latest break-in, call the police.
