MINT HILL, N.C. — The Mint Hill Police Department said it was joined by state and federal authorities on Wednesday in the arrest of a man facing child sex crime charges.
Officers said they arrested 20-year-old Dylan Mauricette with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations. The department said Mauricette is accused of possessing images and video displaying child sex abuse, all kept on electronic storage devices.
Mauricette is now charged with four felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class E felony in the state of North Carolina. Mint Hill Police said there is no evidence he had any direct physical contact with the children found in the materials he had nor with any children known to him.
The department urges parents to stay vigilant in monitoring children's internet activity and electronic devices.
Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.
WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.
