Missing woman found dead in Kings Mountain

She had been reported missing just a day before.

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A woman who was reported missing in Kings Mountain was found dead along a roadside just one day later.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to North Cansler Street on Wednesday after a deceased person was reported. When they arrived, they were able to identify her as Heather Michelle Clemmons.

Clemmons had been reported missing on Tuesday to the Kings Mountain Police Department.

The sheriff's office and police department are working with the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine how Clemmons died.

Her friend reached out to WCNC Charlotte, describing Clemmons as "sweet and caring."
